Despite their similar names, curry leaves and curry powder are two very different ingredients.
Curry leaves are aromatic herbs, also known as “sweet neem leaves”. They grow on the curry tree, which is part of the citrus family. They have a lemon scent and a distinct, pungent taste that has been compared to pine and lemongrass.
This herb is an essential ingredient in Southeast Asian cuisine like curries, dals, and soups.
Used in a similar way to the common Bay Leaf, Curry leaves are not a dominant taste in cooking. Their subtle flavor is unmistakable, giving meals a rich & robust flavor.
