Orange Caraway Seed Cake
Ingredients for Cake
3/4 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp Orange Caraway bitters
3 tsp caraway seeds
zest from 1/2 small orange
1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 TBS almond flour
1 TBS milk
Instructions
spray a 9" round pan with baking spray & set aside.
preheat oven to 350°
cream butter and sugar together in stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until fluffy & pale.
whisk the eggs together, then add in the bitters
slowly add the beaten eggs to the butter and sugar until fully incorporated
in a separate bowl, whisk all of the dry ingredients together
then slowly add dry ingredients to butter and egg mixture, then add in the 1 TBS milk, just until everything is combined - careful not to over mix
dump batter into prepared pan and bake for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
let cool completely in pan
once completely cooled remove from pan & top with orange caraway glaze
Orange Caraway Glaze Ingredients
1 TBS powdered sugar
tiny splash of milk
about 1/2 tsp orange caraway bitters
Instructions
add all ingredients to a bowl, whisk until smooth
the amount of sugar added may depend on consistency of glaze desired (If mixture seems runny, slowly add more powdered sugar until thickened)
