Honey Soy Glaze + Tofu with Rice & Veggies

 

Ingredients

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 3 TBS. honey

  • squeeze of fresh lime juice from 1/2 a lime

  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil

  • a few slices of fresh ginger, finely chopped

  • 1 finely chopped scallion

  • 1 TBS Hibiscus & Yuzu bitters

  • pinch of kosher salt

Meal

  • 1, 12 oz container of firm tofu* drained between kitchen towels

  • White rice, cooked

  • Veggies, cooked

Instructions

  1. Add all glaze ingredients to a bowl and whisk together, set aside

  2. Cut tofu block into medium-sized squares

  3. Heat 1/2 cup vegetable oil in a skillet over medium

  4. Carefully add tofu when oil is hot

  5. Cook, undisturbed until very crisp and brown

  6. Drain on paper towels

  7. Discard oil & return pan to heat & add honey/soy sauce mixture

  8. Baste tofu occasionally until glaze is thick

  9. Remove from pan & drizzle with any remaining glaze.

  10. Serve with a side of rice with veggies, gyoza & egg roll
