Apple & Oat Crumble

 

Ingredients for Oat Crumble topping

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 3/4 cup oats

  • 3/4 cup flour

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • pinch salt

  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed

  • 2 tsp Spring Equinox Beetroot & Fennel Bitters

Instructions

  1. mix all dry ingredients in a bowl (everything except butter & bitters)

  2. add cubed butter & bitters to oat mixture

  3. use a pastry cutter (your hands or a fork works too) to "cut" the butter into the oat mixture, until you have pea-sized crumbs.

Apple + Oat Crumble

  • 6 apples, peeled & chopped

  • 2 TBS granulated sugar

  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 1.5 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 sleeve Spring Equinox Beetroot & Fennel Bitters

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.

  2. Butter an 8×8 baking dish, or spray with non-stick cooking spray.

  3. In a mixing bowl, add chopped apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.

  4. Stir to combine, then transfer to prepared baking dish.

  5. Spread Oat Crumble topping over apples in an even layer.

  6. Bake 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.

  7. Serve warm
