BITTERS LAB +
Uncle Nearest

The collaboration between Bitters Lab and Uncle Nearest began with a stroke of chance and prospered because of shared values. Simply, a member of the Uncle Nearest team saw a woman-owned small business and took it upon himself to support us.

In 2021, we invited Master Blender Victoria Eady Butler to join us for a virtual cocktail workshop for Women's History Month, with the proceeds going to charity. Interweaving cocktails and Black history, Victoria, the first Female African-American Master Blender, told the story of her great-great-grandfather Nearest Green, the first African-American Master Distiller.

A few months later, the offer of a spare whiskey barrel evolved organically into the creative collaboration of our dreams, Barrel-Aged Bitters. This unique, and limited-edition batch of Apple Bitters was created with care by our team here at Bitters Lab with apples sourced entirely from one of our non-profit partners, The Green Urban Lunch Box, in Salt Lake City. It was then aged for 90 days in a recently emptied 1856 Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey Cask before bottling.

The result is a flavor that is unique and unlike anything we have ever produced. This collaboration has resulted in a partnership that we are truly proud and honored to be a part of.
